What services does your psychology practice offer?Our practice offers a range of psychological services, including individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, psychological assessments, and counselling for various mental health and emotional concerns.

How do I schedule an appointment with a psychologist in your practice?To schedule an appointment, you can call our office, email us, or use our online appointment booking system. Our friendly staff will assist you in finding the right psychologist at a convenient time for your first session.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?During your initial session, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and expectations with your therapist. This is also a time for your therapist to gather background information to better understand your unique situation.

How long are therapy sessions, and how often should I attend?Therapy sessions typically last 50-60 minutes. The frequency of sessions varies depending on the nature of your concerns, ranging from weekly, fortnight, monthly to less frequent appointments.

Is therapy confidential?Yes, therapy sessions are confidential. Our practice adheres to strict confidentiality guidelines, and your personal information is protected. There are legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, which your therapist will discuss with you.

What qualifications do your health professionals hold?Our Psychologists are registered with the Australian Health Professionals Regulations Agency (AHPRA) and have advanced degrees, Masters Level Qualifications or PhDs in their specialised field of interest. They have experience and expertise in various therapeutic approaches and are dedicated to providing effective and compassionate care.

Do you accept insurance, and what are your payment options?We accept a range of insurance plans, including private health and Medicare. Please get in touch with our office if you have specific questions regarding your rebates.

Can I choose my therapist or be matched with one based on my needs?You can request a specific therapist based on your preferences, or we can match you with a therapist whose expertise aligns with your concerns and goals.

What types of issues or concerns can your therapists help with?Our therapists are experienced in addressing a wide range of mental health and emotional concerns, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, relationship problems, stress, trauma, and personal growth and development.

What is the cancellation policy for appointments?Our practice has a cancellation policy in place. We require two days’ notice if you are unable to keep an appointment. This is for courtesy to our therapist and other clients who may require care. If appointments are cancelled within two days a cancellation fee of $95.00 will be charged. ​ Clients who do not attend their scheduled appointments or cancel within 2hrs of their appointment will be charged the full cost of their appointment. We will do our best to accommodate you when you notify us within 24hrs if you are unwell.

Can I contact my therapist between sessions in case of urgent matters?Your therapist will discuss their availability for contact between sessions. For urgent support, please get in touch with Life Line 13 11 14 or present to your local hospital for immediate care. If you are in an emergency or you are at threat of harming yourself, call 000.

What should I do if I have questions or concerns about my therapy or therapist?Open communication is essential. If you have questions or concerns about your therapy or therapist, please feel free to discuss them with your therapist directly or send your enquiry to the reception team via email.

Can ADHD assessments be done remotely?Yes, at Ikigai Psychology Clinic, all ADHD assessments are conducted remotely with our Psychologist.

What are the potential outcomes of an ADHD assessment?The assessment can result in one of the following outcomes: a diagnosis of ADHD, a diagnosis of a related condition, or the determination that the symptoms do not meet the criteria for any specific disorder. If diagnosed with ADHD, treatment options, such as medication, therapy, or behavioural interventions, can be discussed.

How much does an ADHD assessment cost?The initial ADHD consult is $230; the psychologist will determine at this appointment if further testing is needed for ADHD. The ADHD will cost $860, which includes 2 hours of testing and a comprehensive report that your psychologist will provide. The Feedback Session is $107.50, where your psychologist will go through the results and discuss the next steps. In total, the assessment process costs $1197.50, including the initial assessment and feedback sessions across multiple sessions. You may be able to claim a rebate from Medicare at the initial session and feedback session with a Mental Health Care Plan. For more information, don't hesitate to get in touch with reception.
